Traditional Japanese acupuncture
Acupuncture in Japan, unlike mainland China, is an alternative for of therapy outside the mainstream of the national healthcare system in other words the same way Acupuncture is being practice on the west. In Japan, acupuncture developed separately from herbal medicine and become closely associated with massage, since for centuries acupuncture and massage was exclusive domain of the blind. Is my understanding that Acupuncture was introduced by the Koreans to Japan. This project was designed by the Japanese government to provide the Blind shiatsu masters with the tools to be more productive in their society. As a result of learning the foundations of traditional Chinese Medicine and applying their own skills on manage of energy, This Blind teachers created what is today know as Traditional Japanese Acupuncture. One of the main diagnosis techniques used on Japanese acupuncture is a strong emphasis on palpation, where we identify specific temperature, excess, deficiency and where the channels of energy run through the body. Most Japanese acupuncture patients receive a thorough examination by touch as a requisite part of their treatment. Another feature is the use of very thin needles providing a milder stimulation than Chinese needles. Patients that have a preference for traditional Japanese acupuncture prefer a softer treatment, and have a dislike for strong needle stimulation. Finally, one of the most interesting features of Japanese acupuncture is the widespread use of direct Moxibustion. Direct moxibustion remains the most common adjunct to Japanese acupuncture today.
In my opinion this is the best acupuncture technique to treat internal medicine problems, blockages of energy and very gentle technique for paediatrics, weak people and people of third age.
